December 1, 2024
We went to get our Christmas tree and it's 66 degrees outside, briefly (according to the digital thermometer).

December 2, 2024
Last week I gave an apple pie recipe to a Japanese student who attends the ESL program that I volunteer for at our library. I challenged him to make it for Thanksgiving.

Today he brought me a slice from an apple pie he made this morning.

I wanted to cry.

December 3, 2024
I went to Target. It was not fun.

December 4, 2024
I found out that LED tealights can make sound/music(!) The flickering is from a sound generating chip inside the lights. Amazing.

I'm trippin' (colloquially-speaking) that they haven't found the dude that shot the UnitedHealthcare CEO. Sounds like a possible "flirty" encounter at a hostel may be what gets him caught as his photo is taped up everywhere on social media now. Very interesting...

December 6, 2024
I finished reading Anna Marie Tendler's memoir, Men Have Called Her Crazy. There seems to be more than a handful of readers that didn't like the book. It is very well written. She mentions how she wants nothing to do with men at one point; not even be in the same room. I get it.

December 7, 2024
I saw a news clip online last night (here) about how the FBI/law enforcement is having a hard time finding the "United Healthcare CEO Assassin" for various reason - one of which may be due to things like secure phones such as iPhones and end-to-end encrypted messaging.

"Once you get into the phone, then you’re dealing with the problem of encrypted content,” McCabe said. “Some users are not as disciplined, and they keep things like text messages and those sort of records on their phones, so you can read it off the device. But others are better at having messages expire and automatically deleted.”

So interesting...

I realized last night that I loathe the click, click sound that TV apps make when you're trying to find a movie to watch. Is this just me?

December 9, 2024
Oops.

December 10, 2024
Am looking forward to attending this online "Deportation Defense Training" later today. As we get passed January 20th, it feels like we're all going to learn who to trust and not trust.

December 11, 2024
I'm really terrible at updating any device. Hardly ever get new smart phones or laptops because it feels overwhelming to move everything over. Really need to get over this(!) Also, the Deportation Defense meeting we attended yesterday (online) was incredible. So much info and with 1,800+ attendees from all over the U.S. - so hopeful.

December 12, 2024
Am really scared that we will lose insurance by 2026. I feel like it will be 2007 all over again.

December 13, 2024
My current emotional support movies:  Go (1999. It's also a Christmas movie!) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

December 14, 2024
All this wind and rain is making me very nervous. It's 3pm and dark already. At the holiday fair today, am pretty sure I bought my weight in cake pops but I also found some cool zines(!) Wheee.

Good job, Ireland.
"Ireland's position on the conflict in the Middle East has always been guided by the principles of international law and the obligation on all states to adhere to international humanitarian law."

December 16, 2024
Feeling this slow creeping in of depression and I loathe how familiar it feels. I still get up every morning and do everything that needs to be done, but It's there.

December 17, 2024
Just read the news about Sesame Street having to find another home. I hope they do, it's an invaluable show. Truly.

December 18, 2024
Beauty is terror. Whatever we call beautiful, we quiver before it.
- Donna Tartt, The Secret History

December 19, 2024
Am hoping no one can taste my anxiety in this pumpkin bread I just made.

December 20, 2024
L'appel du vide.

December 21, 2024
Our health insurance went up $328/month. I get him. I get it.

December 22, 2024
Friend of 30+ years and drinks and memories. <3

December 23, 2024
The sun is out. I woke up late.

December 24, 2024
The sun is out and it's 60 degrees(???). My faith in the US Postal Service is restored because it was waning there for a bit. I'm tasked with making an apple pie for dinner tomorrow so here's hoping I get it to my in-law's in one piece, again.

December 25, 2024
Home Alone truly is a classic movie. It's so dark outside. We finished watching Dead Poets Society and my heart broke in two.

December 26, 2024
It's sooooo dark outside.

December 27, 2024
So good to see friends and eat some yummy British food. I also remembered to take a few photos. Wheee!

December 28, 2024
Am reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt (second time reading it). I find the reviews hilarious because those that leave one star reviews most likely read dollar-store smut on the regular. Not that there's anything wrong with that. (Am feeling bratty today).

December 29, 2024
Am in full gremlin mode. It's dark, rainy, cold and brie is being eaten alongside chocolate (Brugge Chocolates, yum) at 2pm...and wine. I think it's Sunday today(?)

December 30, 2024
If you don't already have one; go to your local public library and get thee a library card. Show support and join the community.  <3

A college friend passed away a couple of months ago and last night I saw him in my dreams. He was waving and smiling to me through a window from outside of a house.

New beginnings... 2025. Let there be light ✨ Happy New Year!
